By now you probably have heard that Fall Line is going to have a team and participate in the Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday Oct 4th. The team is already practicing. If you want to join them for a picnic on race day the price is $15 (must pay in advance).
Dragon Boat races have also been known to have teams of Breast Cancer survivors as well as individuals currently battling the disease. The teams compete, form bonds and celebrate their lives, not their cancers.
The anonymous quote on the Dragon Boat Festival website expresses the spirit of these woman (and men) the best. "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body. But rather, to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming..."Wow, what a ride!""
For the last several years the money raised at the Festival has gone to the Fox Chase Cancer Research Center. Fall Line is proud to announce that once again, the Fall Line Dragon Boat Team will be raising money for this cause.
There are three ways to give.
On Thursday Sept 18th, Uno Chicago Grill will donate 15% of the bill from anyone who walks in with the Fall Line coupon to the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Fall Line’s name. The coupons will be in the September newsletter but can be found on line now. You must go to the Uno’s on 73 in Maple Shade (across the street from Jay’s Elbow Room).
One is directly on-line. There will be teams listed for the dragonboats. If you click on Fall Line Ski Club you can chose to give directly in the name of the entire team or choose one of the team members who have logged on to raise funds. The other method is make a check directly out to Fox Chase Cancer Center. Janice Lynch has agreed to take all the checks and forward them on to Fox Chase on behalf of the Fall Line members. Your contribution is tax deductible. Just ask at any general meeting for Janice. 100% of the money collected will go to Fox Chase Cancer Center.
